Nancy O'Dell's initial work in the industry of broadcast was as a reporter/anchor at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She later became a morning news anchor as well as a crime reporter at WCBD TV. The journalist's report on the lack of response of the police to DUI instances in Charleston resulted in an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in directive from state authorities regarding DUI cases. The Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell with its Best Report of the Years award in the entirety of South Carolina Media. O'Dell then worked for the Miami-based station of NBC WTVJ-TV as an investigative journalist and anchor, prior to her joining Access Hollywood in the role as a weekend anchor.
